The Mitsubishi Mirage is a compact hatchback that appeals to budget-conscious urban drivers in Kenya. With its small footprint and nimble handling, it's ideal for navigating Nairobi's congested streets and tight parking spaces. The Mirage is a practical choice for first-time car buyers or those upgrading from a boda boda, offering basic transport with low running costs. Its 5-seater configuration and decent boot space make it suitable for small families or individuals who need occasional cargo capacity.
The Mirage is generally reliable with a simple mechanical setup. The 3A92 engine is known for durability, though it's crucial to maintain regular oil changes to prevent wear. High-mileage units may experience timing chain noise, but this is typically manageable with timely servicing.
Routine maintenance is straightforward and affordable. Service intervals are standard, but the CVT transmission requires attention to fluid changes to avoid long-term issues. Independent mechanics across Kenya are familiar with the Mirage, making service accessible outside of dealership networks.
Parts are readily available in Nairobi's Kirinyaga Road and Grogan areas, as well as through importers and online platforms. Genuine parts can be sourced from the Mitsubishi dealer network, though aftermarket options are more cost-effective for routine repairs.

The Mirage's 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine is frugal, particularly in city driving, where it excels in stop-and-go traffic. On highways, it remains economical but lacks the punch for rapid overtaking, which can affect fuel efficiency if pushed hard.
