Returns & Refunds

Last updated: 6 October 2026

1. What Garisea Is

Garisea is a car marketplace. Dealers, and lenders selling cars they have repossessed, list their own vehicles, and you buy directly from them. Garisea doesn't own, hold, inspect or deliver the vehicles listed on it, and doesn't take payment for them — the sale is between you and the seller.

2. Returning a Vehicle

Because Garisea doesn't sell the cars, Garisea can't accept a vehicle back or refund its price. Returns, refunds and warranties are between you and the seller, under the seller's own terms and Kenyan consumer law.

Before you buy, ask the seller in writing what their return, refund and warranty terms are. Official Dealerships are brand-authorised: Garisea lists a dealership as Official for a brand only while it holds an approved authorised-brand badge for that brand, checked against documents the dealership gave us. They often sell new cars with a manufacturer's warranty — ask the dealership for its terms.

Bank recovery sales. A car marked “Bank recovery” is sold by the lender that repossessed it. Unless the listing says otherwise, it is sold as-is, with no warranty from the lender, and the sale closes on the date shown. Read the condition notes and view the car before the closing date.

3. Before You Pay

  • See the car in person, and have a mechanic you trust inspect it.
  • Check the logbook, and that the person selling it is the registered owner, or a dealer or lender entitled to sell it.
  • Get an independent valuation if you're unsure of the price.
  • Take a test drive.
  • Get a written sale agreement — including any return, refund or warranty terms — before you pay a deposit.
  • Pay in a way you can trace, to the seller or dealership named on your agreement. Garisea will never ask you to pay for a car.

4. If Something Goes Wrong

  1. Contact the seller first. Most problems are resolved directly with the seller.
  2. Report it to Garisea. Choose Report in the menu (⋮) on the listing or dealer page, on the web or in the app, or email [email protected] with the listing link and what happened.
  3. Go further if you need to. You can file a complaint with the Competition Authority of Kenya, which handles consumer complaints, or seek independent legal advice.

We look into every report. Depending on what we find, we can remove a listing, suspend a seller, or remove a dealer's Verified badge. We can't reverse a sale or order a seller to refund you.

5. Car Loans and Insurance

Car loans and insurance you find on Garisea are provided by the lender or insurer, not by Garisea. Their terms decide cancellations, cooling-off periods and refunds — ask them directly.

6. Garisea's Own Paid Services

Dealers and partners pay Garisea for plans, packs, badges and advertising. Refunds for those are covered by the Dealer Refund Policy and the Partner Refund Policy.

7. Common Questions

Can I return a car I bought through Garisea?
Garisea can't take back or refund a car, because Garisea doesn't sell the cars listed on it. Returns, refunds and warranties are between you and the seller (the dealer, or the lender selling a repossessed car), under their terms and Kenyan consumer law.
Does Garisea take payment for cars?
No. You pay the seller directly. Garisea doesn't hold deposits or payments for vehicles. The payment methods shown on a listing are the ones the seller says it accepts.
What if a dealer doesn't honour what they promised?
Contact the dealer first. If that doesn't resolve it, report the listing or dealer to Garisea using Report in the menu on the listing or dealer page, or email [email protected]. You can also file a complaint with the Competition Authority of Kenya.
