Do I need a written agreement to sell a car privately in Kenya?
It isn't legally required for a sale to happen, but a written Car Sale Agreement protects both parties by recording the vehicle, price, condition and handover — and is useful evidence if a dispute arises later.
How do I transfer ownership of a car in Kenya?
Ownership is transferred through NTSA, via the TIMS portal on eCitizen. The registered owner stays liable for the vehicle until the transfer is complete, so do it promptly. Our Ownership Transfer Guide walks through the steps and the documents you'll need.
