How to use this document
- 1Before the test drive, fill in the vehicle, the driver's name, ID and licence details, and the agreed route and return time.
- 2The driver signs to confirm a valid licence and accept responsibility for fines or fault-based damage during the drive.
- 3Keep your copy — and don't rely on it in place of valid motor insurance.
Questions
Should I let a buyer test drive my car alone?
It's safest to accompany the drive. This form records the driver's details and responsibility, but it doesn't replace insurance — confirm your policy covers other drivers before handing over the keys.
Who pays if a buyer crashes on a test drive?
This agreement makes the driver responsible for loss or damage they cause through their fault, to the extent the law allows — but recovering it can be hard, so adequate insurance is the real protection.
